Neutral Milk Hotel's second and final studio album, originally released on February 10, 1998 on Merge Records — one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed indie rock albums ever recorded. Produced by Robert Schneider at Pet Sounds Studio in Denver and Kindercore Studio in Athens, GA, the album draws on Jeff Mangum's response to reading The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, weaving surrealist imagery, acoustic guitars, horns, and singing saw into a dense, emotionally overwhelming whole. Named the best album of the 1990s by Magnet Magazine. This reissue is on sea foam green colored cassette.
